Parkfield AFC AGM to be held on Tuesday 21st July 2009
All club members are encouraged to attend the Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 21st July 2009 at the clubhouse commencing at 7.45pm.
* Two new teams join the club for the 2009-10 season
A new u-9s team is to be set up by Martin Shutt to play in the Lichfield League and the u-13 Wylde Green Warriors B team will be moving across to play at Parkfield in the Central Warwickshire Youth League. We welcome both teams and wish them all the best in the coming
season.
* Seniors pre-season training starts on Thurs 10 July 2008
It might not seem that long since the close of the 2007-08 season but preparation starts for the new season with pre-season training on Thursday 10 July 2008 and each Thursday thereafter. Again the sessions will be led by qualified coach Nick Rose taking place at Rectory Park.
6.30pm meet for 6.45 pm start.
New first team manager, Richard Heath, will be using the sessions to select his first team squad for next season. Therefore it is important that all players attend. We will be joined by a number of new players that will be looking to join the two teams.
* Old boy Heath appointed as new 1st team manager
The Parkfield AFC executive committee are pleased to annouce that Richard Heath has been appointed as the 1st team manager for the 2008-09 season and beyond. Richard has previously played for both the 1st and 2nd teams of Parkfield AFC a number of seasons back including a
couple of guest appearances in 2006-07. Therefore he has a good understanding of the background workings of the club. He will come into the club to bring much needed stability to the 1st team as well as looking to bring in a few new players to introduce some extra competition for places to the current squad.
* New boy Fisher wins player of the season
Andrew Fisher was presented with the 2007-08 1st team player of the season award, at the end of season presentation evening, in only his first season with the club. Andrew and his twin brother, Curtis, joined Parkfield in the close season and made an impact right from the start.
Ian Chalmers and James Sawyer shared the 2nd team player of the season and Josh Turton collected the young player of the season award.
* 1st team retain the Parkfield Challenge trophy
The Parkfield 1st team needed their strongest team of the season and the help of a ringer to ensure they retained the Parkfield Challenge trophy. The first game between the 2nd team and the new Vets team ended in a 0-0 draw although it was the 2nd team that dominated the play
throughout. The Vets then slumped to a heavy defeat to the fresh legs of the 1st team. Only needing a draw against the 2nd team to retain the trophy the 1st won reasonably comfortably 3-1; Knott sealing the win with a very acrobatic bicycle kick past the dozing Freer in goal.
* Boys win league title
In their first season Parkfield Boys U12 team have won the division six title of the CWYFL with one game to spare. They only needed a point from their penultimate match of the season but Sunday's game saw them win 4-2 against fourth place Sporting FC to secure the title.
Congratulations to Nick Rose, Steve Rhodes and all the players on the fantastic achievement.
* Chartered Standard status
Parkfield AFC has been awarded Chartered Standard status by Birmingham County FA. This is the product of some extensive work by Nick Rose to ensure that the club has proper footballing policies and procedures that meet best practice. This award recognises this fact and provides
the club with greater access to funding for developing the ground.
* 80th anniversary and end of season presentation dinner
The dinner held on Friday 8 June 2007 to commemorate the clubs 80th season anniversary at Fairlawns Hotel was at great success with near 70 people attending, a good mixture of current and past players along with their partners.
Sam Kent was awarded the Mr & Mrs WT Ryland Memorial Plaque acknowledging the amount of time and commitment that he had put into the club over the past year.
Alex Grant was awarded the young player of the year award whilst Scott Horton and Craig Edmondson collected the player of the year awards for the 2nd and 1st teams respectively.
